Kingfisher Marine completed a custom high-efficiency propeller retrofit for 32K DWT bulk carrier M/V ANANYA NAREE in April 2026. The upgrade delivered 7% fuel savings, met IMO EEXI & CII rules, reduced emissions and improved reliability, offering a proven cost-effective decarbonization solution for bulk carriers.

Project Overview
In April 2026, Kingfisher successfully completed a custom high-efficiency propeller retrofit for M/V ANANYA NAREE at Shanhaiguan Shipyard, China, achieving full  compliance with IMO EEXI & CII requirements and delivering measurable fuel  savings.
The new fixed-pitch propeller was specially designed based on the vessel’s original propeller, engine characteristics, and actual operating profile, using advanced  lifting-line and lifting-surface hydrodynamic analysis.
Key objectives:

         lReduced fuel consumption
         lOptimized service speed

         lLower CO₂emissions

         lImproved propulsion reliability

Kingfisher provided full on-site technical support during drydock and sea trial phases, ensuring precise installation and system alignment.
Scope included:

        lOriginal propeller removal
lNew propeller blue fitting & pressing-up

lShaft alignment checks and bearing jack-up test

lMain engine crank web deflection measurement

          lSea Trials & Performance Verification

lComprehensive sea trials were conducted, covering:
          Speed trial
         TVC / torque verification
         Fuel Oil Consumption (FOC) measurement

          Results: 7% Fuel Consumption Reduction

Analysis of sea trial and operational data shows an average fuel consumption  reduction of approximately 7%, delivering immediate economic and environmental benefits.
Propeller optimization remains one of the most cost
-effective short-term solutions for decarbonization.

This project demonstrates how targeted hydrodynamic upgrades can deliver fast,  verifiable returns without major machinery modification.
